Note to patients regarding COVID-19 guidelines:

We are closely following guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada, regarding COVID-19. As a precaution we ask you to rebook if you or your child have any cold or flu like symptoms, if you have a fever over 38 degrees Celsius or if you have had close contact with a probable or confirmed case of COVID-19. We are now booking phone appointments when possible.

If you are being seen in the office please be advised:
-All patients must wear a medical grade mask while on the premises
-Due to limited space in our waiting room we ask that you only bring the necessary amount of people needed for this appointment.
– We ask that you show up no sooner than 5 minutes before your appointment time so we can avoid crowding in the office space.

New patients
• Patients are seen by referral only, we are not a walk in.

• If you have been referred, our office will contact you when an appointment time becomes available. Due to the high volume of referrals our wait time can be anywhere from 3-6 months.
• Patients who arrive 15 minutes past their appointment time will have to rebook and will be subject to usual wait times. We will not be able to fit you in.
• Our clinic will call to confirm your consult the day prior. If we verbally confirm the appointment with you and you are a no show, your referral will be returned back to the referring physician.
• If there is an email address on file, you will get a notification of the appointment a week before.

Existing patients
• We follow the guidelines of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, if the patient is seeing the specialist for the same concern, we are happy to book a follow up. For new concerns, please have your doctor send a referral. If it has been over 6 months from the last visit, the booking is subject to initial consult wait times. If it has been 2 years or more from the last visit, the patient will need to be re-referred.
• We require at least 24 hours notice for all medication refills. If you are calling the day medication has run out, we cannot guarantee that it can be refilled that same day.
• If you were asked to book a follow up appointment by the doctor, please arrange this with our office as soon as possible as the pediatricians book up quickly. It is the patient’s responsibility to maintain booking these follow up appointments.

In order to make your child’s appointment as efficient as possible, we will ask you to fill out forms in advance. You will be notified which forms to complete or have your child’s teacher complete. These are fillable PDF files that you can complete on your computer or phone prior to your appointment and email to specialists.booking@aldermedical.ca or, if you prefer to do this in the office, we ask that you show up 5-10 minutes before your appointment and we will provide you with the forms to complete.

Uninsured Services
The specialists can complete a Disability Tax Credit and Appendix 8 Student form for their patients if appropriate. These are done by appointment only and there is a fee of $40.00 that will need to be paid before receiving this document. Please contact the office if you have any questions. See the links below for a printable copy of the Disability Tax Credit form or log-in to the patients CRA account for the online version (preferred). For the online version of the Disability Tax Credit form, please either email or phone in the reference number. Payment for the form will need to be completed before we can release it to the doctor.
